Okay, I sent it again, and it worked, but of course, I got my own email address wrong. Typical typing for fumble fingers. So, I sent it again.

So, take the details off my first application, and the email address off my second. Sorry. Maybe I'm on your list.

For best results, try slumping INTO your mold. That way, (especially if you position your blank a little way down the interior sides of the mold) the blank is in compression from the sides of the mold, and a good, even slump will occur. Also, the interior, (viewing surface) will not pick up any text...

It totally depends on how hot you go, and what type of glass is against the shelf. I get MANY firings out of Bullseye kiln wash by using a black base blank, and never going above 1450. Brock

Lani, I really would like to keep this thread free from taunts and accusations. Tony Well I agree with that! It would be tacky to post taunts and allegations, especially if they are completely false. Don't you agree Tony? Of course, it would be even tackier to turn an ostensibly benign thread into a...

Actually Cliff, the iridized layer will fuse. This is a common misconception. The iridized coating will fuse to glass quite well, it will not fuse to another layer of iridizing though unless some of the coating is removed to expose bare glass. Tony It WILL, however, often leave a needled or puckered...

What specifically happens to kiln wash during full fuse processing that renders it unsuitable, or at least of questionable value, as a separator for subsequent firings? Cliff Sometimes nothing. If you fire at the lower end of the fusing range say 1430 - 1450, you can get many firings out of your she...

Hey Steve,

The thinner the steel, the more likelihood of warpage. We remove the handles and sometimes they warp anyway. It can be an interesting shape, but not if you want a perfect reverse dome shape. Brock

Brad, it's great that you're still considering hosting this conference. If everyone could respond to the choices offered it would probably make your job easier. I have to disagree about shaking the bottles of lusters. These are metallics in suspension and do not need to be shaken, nor should they be. If you shake the bottle, bubbles form which will burst and leave pin holes in your application.

I once took a class at Pilchuck, taught by an eminent caster/sculptor. It was the worst class, by far, of many that I have taken. This "teacher" would not share techniques with us, would not give us the supplier of the crystal that he used, although he constantly referred to it, and disapp...
