If, as many others suspect, it’s annealing, here’s some basic stuff to consider:

I compliment you for taking steps to educate teachers in your area and others thru this board. If it isn't on their agenda already, maybe Lani and Bullseye could slide this issue into their teacher conference. Jo Jo, this is a big issue in our small community. And yes, it will be covered at BECon i...

GAS is a great organization. I am in awe of their managing to coordinate a conference that will likely draw 2000 people this year. But there are probably just too many sectors in glass for each to be covered in any depth (well, except maybe blowing :( ) Which is why we are running our own conference...

mixing different kinds together in a crucible is sort of like homogenizing it, and the resulting COE is the average of the component types. it works for blowing, but that's about it. If it were only that simple. Depending on how hot and how long it's melted, it could be lower than the average... or...

I think that an instructors certification is their bio and their work. Also a valid approach - the one that has certainly been successful at Pilchuck. And I sure don't see certification as a requirement, just an option ... and at this point... only a hypothetical one. There is no magic firing sched...

Why don't you charge for your teacher training? ... Charging for the classes would allow people from all mediums to benefit from your teacher training. In the long run, it would benefit the artform across the board. A good question. But again, we're just one small company. There is only so much we ...

Re: Technique Ownership - A Question of Ethics
What prompted this discussion was that recently, someone asked me what I thought about another individual distributing detailed information about a technique that that person learned in a class they had taken. I was surprised that a person would do that as I felt it was unethical. Or is attributing...

(Els is probably right -- many of our best discussions do, regretably, turn into Bullseye vs. Spectrum....) I don't disagree. I just don't find it regrettable. If one has players in a field with different positions, is there nothing to be learned by debate? Of course I never manage to get anyone fr...

... The other view is that a full and rich understanding of the technical aspects of fusing is a necessary foundation to entering the field. Brad, I hope you aren't lumping Bullseye into that position. We believe that what's needed to *enter* the field is being inspired by making a successful proje...

Re: My microwave..
The only solution to ignorance is education. BE is in the forefront of this effort but their programs are not aimed at the people who are buying the "dumbed down" products. Putting on shows and exhibits at galleries and cultural centers is "preaching to the choir". What we need ...
