These kilns are specifically made for glass fusers with care to design out the problems some kilns have. For instance there is braided refractory rope around the lid (to stop heat loss due to lid warpage)...

You could try ramping at 50 deg/hr between 1020 and 1350. There is a lot on this in the archives. try key words "bubble squeeze".

I use an air brush hooked up to my air compressor with the pressure dialed down to about 10 lbs. It gives a nice fine spray.

If you did a search in the archives you would find out potmelts need to be fired to 1650 F and a whole lot more info that you need to know so you don't waste time and glass.

How did you solve your white scum problem?

You could do a potmelt if instead of the pot you used the 2" clay saucer that they sell to go along with the clay pot. Just use a chipping hammer or a chisel to knock a hole in the center.

.....and don't forget a nice thick rubber mat for the floor in front of your cutting table.
