since it requires certification in order to simply sell the stuff, i wonder if this is tied into a mlm lawsuit avoidance idea? It does not require certification to sell it. Certification qualifies you for deep discounts without the large quantity requirement. At least that is the case with Rio Gran...

Robyn, please don't take this personally, I don't know you and have no opinion of your work or teaching skills. What I want to know is, does anyone ever fail the PMC certification course? Is it a rubber stamp, you take the course, you're a certified teacher? Is there a tough exam? The reason I ask,...

I took a class last fall from Robyn Alexander in Berkeley to learn about working with PMC. It's so easy to use and is an excellent medium to combine with fused glass. I was able to make 4 silver pendants with glass cabachons from just one small package of PMC. You can also use PMC for making unique...

Frit casting shapes (with Kaiser Lee Board?)

I've been asked to make 1/2"-3/4" thick flat paperweights in the profile of two different dog breeds. I'm thinking about frit casting using 1" Kaiser-Lee fiber board, cutting out the shapes while leaving at least 1" around all edges. It woud look like a thick dog-shaped drop ring...

The screens referred to in the original post are PhotoEZ (tm). The standard is 100 mesh, with their high-res being 200 mesh. The screens come already coated, so there is no fooling around with emulsifier solution. Once developed, the finished screens are easily reused after rinsing well with water a...

Water miscable mediums will work as will squeegee oil. Squeegee oil stinks, but it is a better medium for screening. The water friendly mediums tend to get air bubbles when screened several times. A search of the CR Loo pdf catalog did not find squeegee. When I called Leslie Ceramics, the guy on th...

Any suggestions for a cheap airbrush to use with mica? I'd rather not invest in the highly recommended Aztec and compressor unless I'm certain it's something I'll use more often. When mixing mica and klyr-fire, is there a particular consistency I should look for? While I'm here.... Can the mica-klyr...

I sandblast mainly, and use a Dremel for touch-ups and some detail work. 4 mil vinyl is plenty for the light sandblasting needed to remove irid. Brock Brock &/or Steve -- If using the Dremel for detail work such as seen in Steve's pendants, what type(s) of cutters, burs, wheels, stones or combi...
