Re: Totally naive about a possible process.
Apples versus oranges, yet again. Monolithic float versus multiple piece art glass. There is no definitive answer as anyone could deduce by the number of types of kilns successfully fusing glass. Repetition does not make one right . . .

Re: who pays de postage?
Typically, the artist pays the postage.
In the event the work doesn't sell, the gallery pays the return postage.

Re: Dental plaster
I don't think there is soap in Hydroperm. What produces the bubbles is the size and speed of the impeller. The instructions are on the bag. I have used it. Very good for casting a mold and filling and firing immediately. Entrained air and steam are vented THROUGH the mold via the network of Don Ho b...

Re: Polishing Puzzle
That is pretty normal, big distributors protect their retail outlets. Frankly, if you don't have, or have access to, a flat lap I would just go with a series of grits on a piece of float. It's almost foolproof, and while that little belt sander would be quicker in the hands of someone with experienc...

Re: Beveling an edge
You are not tapering the entire vertical side.
You are breaking the sharp 90 degree angle between the side and the bottom.

Re: Beveling an edge
Further . . . beveling on a WBS takes a little practice. Hole the blank, top down, against the belt, resting on the wheels. Slowly rotate it, easing in and out of the motion, taking several turns to complete a rotation. Use an 80 or 100 belt to rough the shape, then go through 220, 400, 600, Cork un...

Re: Beveling an edge
Assuming that you're slumping into a mold, you want to bevel the back. Not only does it look nicer, more finished, it facilitates the slumping process. I would sandblast first, then bevel, so the bevel is shiny. You only need a small bevel, 1/16" to 1/8" to give the bowl a professional app...
