Thanks Vernelle. I'm honored that you remembered and were able to find my post. Candy, these are easy but tedious to make. I mark out the shape on the shelf and lay out the first layer. Tilt the shelf slightly and they will roll/stay together. I then pour on a generous stripe of Klyrfire and let it ...

Yes, Contact shelf paper. I use the clear. Since I can't draw I cut a 8.5 x 11 sheet and run it though my inkjet printer, then cut out the design with scissors and/or knife (I like scalpels).

If you are using denatured alcohol it could be the additives they put in it. I have had devit-like streaks and I believe it is from the alcohol. I usually do a final cleaning wipe with it and I think that's where I'm getting the streaks. I'm switching to rubbing alcohol or maybe even Everclear if it...

Discontinued colors

Lani, Since the topic has come up... What about BE 1411 my Mom's favorite color and BE 0116 - 31? I have managed to find a supply of 1411 thanks to Sara. Do you know why BE discontinued making it? I acquired a half sheet of the Tourquoise Blue Irid from a fellow on eBay. I made a nice piece with som...

I recently learned, the hard way, from experience, that patina will damage and/or remove low-fire enamels.

I was using Fusemaster transparents but I am told it will happen to others as well.

Matt is slow in answering his emails but he is just as slow in sending out the statement. I think it's because he has a real job and, having his priorities straight, puts it before us glassies. Have patience, it is well worth the wait. I have four of his rings and they are great. I even thought he w...

Try this

Sharon, I've been toying around with frit and powder and have achieved snowflake like results even though that is not what I was after. Try putting a very thin layer of medium/fine frit (probably white if you want a snowflake) on your shelf and then dust liberally with powder. When taken to full fus...

If you are trying to break off 1/4" from the side of a sheet it will often run out. Try cutting 1/2" strips and breaking those first then split the 1/2" strip. They should run better.

Works for me.

My preference for airbrushing enamels is Ferro #683. It is a gyycol ether and cellulose ether with alcohol. It mixes to a smooth consistancy which I thin with alcohol for spraying. I like spraying with alcohol based because it dries so quickly but doesn't plug up the gun. Easy cleaning too. I've tri...

Fuse Master and patina

I just finished a big SG project that involved painting some of the pieces. I used Fuse Master transaparent paints and fired to the recommended temp (1175 *F). When I applied black patina to the piece the paint was attacked and much of it came off. It didn't make my day! I have never had that happen...

I bought some dense white for the same reason. I thought the regular white was kinda wimpy looking. I haven't done much with it yet but I did notice the it reacts with French Vanilla. I made a reference tile, using dense white as a base, and one of the small squares I put on it was French Vanilla. T...

I think so.

Mine has a black connector that the grey connector goes on. The black piece has the 1/4" NPT threads that probably match the compressor.

Stephie, I bought the 4F which is a very deep drop in the mold and takes a long time but the flaired out top is cool. I was wondering the same thing about getting that ridge at the bottom to "take". I like the concept of the foot and it is like kilncarving so it should work. My guess is th...

Good work! An inspiring piece.

Is it all mica? Three shades or is the red/blue the same mica but different reflection? I love the stencil work.

C & R Loo is carrying a new line of molds called Dragon Molds. They look to be very well designed and there are some interesting shapes. They're about the same price range as BE. I've only bought one, so far, and have used it twice. It worked very well and I was pleased with the results. I will ...

I finally gave in and bought a controller and now have another long learning curve. I started out without one because of the expense and I'm glad I did. I think you learn how glass behaves under heat better without the controller. I agree with Jim and Brock that the controller does not absolve you f...

They are all beautiful and a wonderful addition to your other work.

I can assure everyone that they are much better in person where you can see and touch the fantastic edges and textures.

The blue/vanilla bowl is so calming.

Thanks for sharing and inspiring me, again.

It might not hurt WGBB

I agree with you Charlie but if you do the interview it might help boost Warmglass.com. I'm sure Brad would appreciate the extra exposure.
