Use Diamond Blade on Metal?

I think I know the answer, but I'll ask it anyway. Would I ruin my diamond blade in my tile saw if I used it to cut a strip of thin aluminum? I have to install a new door sweep thing on the bottom of my front door, and need to cut it to length. I can use a hack saw, but thought this would be faster ...

Re a good strip cutter: Judith sells a great one. It may seem expensive but if you do a lot of strip cutting, you'll kick yourself for not having bought one before. I can see why! This is gorgeous stuff. I love the use of open spaces and iregular shapes. If only my left brain would stop trying to be the boss all the time.

Instead of using a drop mold, which will force you to make such a thick shade, why not try one of the Ball surface molds from Bullseye. From what you save in using 5 or 6 less layers of glass, you'll easily pay for the mold, it will be less top heavy, you won't have to worry about cutting off the r...

The rule I was taught is you need two layers (3mm) for the first 2 inches of drop, then one additional layer for each additional 2 inches of drop. So for a 15 inch drop you would need nine layers of 3mm glass to ensure adequate wall thickness.

Have fun.

We are having a party! The Portland chapter of the Oregon Glass Guild is having it's monthly meeting tonight at 7:00 at the Beaverton Community Center - come on down. No guest speaker this month, but we're bringing work for "show and tell", and plenty of networking and sharing of secrets, ...

You know, I probably shouldn't spread this around, but Portland (and Western Oregon in general) has a bad rap about the amount of rain we get. Sure the average is around 37" a year, but most of it is concentrated in a few months. For sure, we have a lot of grey, cloudy days between November and...

When we were looking to move to the northwest we thought Grant's Pass, Oregon in the Rogue River Valley looked very good. Lots of outdoor stuff to do so there are a lot of young people who live there or visit for the hiking, whitewater rafting etc. (as opposed to Brookings which we also considered-...

Ah always depend on the kindness of . . . hardware store employees. Take the coupler/valve down to your friendly local hardware store and they'll sort it out for you. Your sink spigot probably has an internal thread and there are couplings for that. Brock Excellent, my guru. I'm off to Home Depot P...

Felasatti Grinder Water Hookup

I just got my Felasatti angle grinder, and I have a question about hooking up the water hose. I may just use it in a pan of water without the hookup, but in case I change my mind, here's the question: The coupler/valve that comes with the grinder needs to be connected with tubing to the water source...

What a treat to get the latest AC and see the beautiful article on Dan and Lani's house. The artwork and house is so lovely and shows how elegant and integrated the two are in Dan and Lani's life. Of course the cats nabbed the lime light by getting into the photo op. Yo, Lani do those two have thei...
