im wondering about the fine powder that is left over after the crushing process to make frit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,im lead to believe that this powder, if put into a thick piece for pate de verre, in volume, will make for a cloudy appearence, but is this the stuff that people use for enamalling,,,where only a very thin layer of powdered glass is used, thus creating a very clear and clean color

Not exactly. Enamels are finely ground frit, but the glass that is ground is formualated to be enamel, not just regular old glass.
