Covington vs. Somaca
Ok guys, I may attempt to build my own kiln one day, but putting together a sander I find a wee bit daunting. Especially after the shock discussion. some find my life shocking enough! (Yes I really do live year round on an island with no fast food or malls. Going off island to a CVS is exciting; ahh but the beauty and peace and the opportunity to do 30 to 40 shows without leaving home)
Soooo, I have a hot glass friend who says Somaca, and many on board use Covington I want my new toy now of course but still not sure what to seek out. HELP
One day my sander will come!

Jeri,
CRLaurence only sells to industry (typically the glazing industry), but as a glass artist, you shouldn't have any problem getting an account. Their local branch is in Taunton and they usually stock the Bee wet belt sander which actually comes in 3 different models. The (2) 106" floor models cost about $1500 each. I'm not sure what the 64" model costs.

You might try Kalamazoo. They have 6" wide X 48" wet belt. It works great for me.
