Walt,

Not sure what a pot malt is, but a pot melt is where a terra cotta pot full of glass is placed in the kiln, supported above the shelf on stilts and as the glass melts, it dribbles onto the shelf forming a puddle of sorts. As the different colors flow into the opening of the pot, the color of the puddle changes. There is some mixing, but interesting circular paterns develop in the glass.

Do a search for "pot melt" and you'll see some interesting examples... or just go to the photo forum. There are a couple of threads on pot melts there.
