Pendent help please?
Hi- I have been firing small pendents using 2 layers + my decorative layer on top. I heat the kiln to 600 and then take it up to 1500. I let it set there for 5 minutes and then turn the kiln off and let the kiln cool to room temp. I have been using the fiber paper for the holes. My problem is the to...

I had the meter in the back of the kiln pushed in too far- therefore metal was touching metal and throwing the whole thing off!! I actually had the kiln up alot higher than...

Had it wrong- Window not
Hi! I guess my newness at this is showing! It is a window- not a peephole. It is on a 20 amp dedicated breaker and 12gaged wire wirh ground was used as specified in the manual. All the elements are glowing red. The intense heat is coming from the window area. Renee

Peep Holes in Kiln Question - Jen Ken G11-E
Does anyone have the side peephole in their kiln? I have a new Jen-Ken G-11E. There is intense heat coming from the peep hole area. I can hold my hand about 6 inches away for 15-20 seconds before I have to move it away. Is this normal, or is this possibly why I cannot get my kiln up to 1500? Thank y...

PLEASE HELP! Just fired up kiL 1st time! Jen Ken GS11-e
Hi! I have finally fired up my new Jen Ken GS-11E kiln for the first time, but it seems to be taking a really LONG time to reach 1500. I am doing the kiln temp and timing (Nothing in kiln except shelf). It seemed to go along pretty well up to the time I reached the HI switch. From 0 to 600 it took a...

kiln - breaker question
Hi! I just got my JenKen kiln (GS-11-E 120v 17 amp) and bought the 20 amp breaker for a dedicated line. My question is, can I use a higher amp breaker instead, so that I can run my shop light and light box off the same outlet without ruining my kiln or overlooading the line or does dedicated MEAN de...

Melting Slag Glass
Hi everyone! I am new to this and wonder if anyone has tried melting slag glass. I know that it will depend on the thickness etc as far as the timing goes, but has anyone worked with this and can give me some tips? I would like to melt pieces to put on the bottom of windchimes. Thanks much! Renee
