melting wine bottles

I've done 3 successful loads of wine bottles but the last one I fired, half of them were broken. One was on top shelf, the others were in the middle shelf. The bottom shelf was fine. I followed the suggested firing schedule in the archives. Any thoughts on what went wrong? Also, some of the bottles ...

Thanks for the tips. My only concern is that I also use the same kiln for pottery and I'm not sure about the formula with clay.

Kiln wash sticking to wine bottles

I am actually a potter but read in the archives of this site how to flatten wine bottles in my kiln and sold quite a few at my last pottery show. Some of them turned out great but some have tons of kiln wash stuck to the backs. Any thoughts on why or what I can do to prevent it from happening. I fol...
