Novacan makes a product called The Stain Remover That Really Works. I've used this on regular s.g. where the glass has been hazed by patina and it will take it all off and bring it back to a nice shine. I cut on a self healing quilters mat, it's nice cuz it has a grid on it when I'm too lazy to measure. Provides enough support yet has a slight cushioning effect, clean up is just simple sweeping. As for the mfd, or even plywood for that matter, couldn't you just sand it smooth (if needed) then prime...

Hi Kids, A newbie here but guess it's time I post something... Has anyone tried china markers for kiln work. I just got one but haven't had time to try it yet. The guy at the art store said it will burn away and leave no marks. Also thinks it will hold up to the glass saw but again, haven't had time...
