Wow Brad, you're good! My husband - John - went and got the thing you posted and got it installed. It is amazing. It's like working on my other computers in the house. Woo Hoo! The only other thing the support guy mentioned is that glass can cause interference. We were going to try up high, so it's ...

You did Brad. Your brand works with the phones. Thanks for the link. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Oh, and I forgot about the molds. The one right now is on one of Brock's big sushi molds. 1/4" steel. The others will be cylinders, also 1/4" steel - 4" and 6-1/2" diameters. The 6-1/2" is 36" long but will have two pieces on it - one 12" long, the other 18". ...

Okay, just the advice I needed. The 60 to 600 is great. I do 60 to 500, but it's the 150 to 200 that seems to take forever. I have to call Skutt because I seem to have a problem going down 30 degrees an hour. I end up either with an error message or it just gets stuck at one temp. Really weird. I us...

I think my husband has checked it before and it was good. He showed me how to put a little icon up so I can see the strength in color - green good, yellow poor, red bad. Right now if I used that computer and tried to use the internet. I can watch it change colors in unison with the relay clicking of...

I've done a second firing adding with large fused inclusions and cool down after annealling 100 degrees to 600 then off. Then when it gets to 300 I vent and open at 150. Am I risking anything doing that after a slump? It would seem that a fusing would be more of a problem so I could do it after a sl...

Right now I am the only one connected to the wireless newtwork, although I'd like to connect more if we got it to work right. My husband talked to Netgear's support team. My distance isn't too bad, closer than the other side of the house. I do have the garage door in the way, which does seem to make...

I originally asked my husband to run a cable through the attic and into the shop but we decided to move with the times and try wireless. I know so many people are using it. I'm not really sure if the problem is wireless or the manufacturer. If I can't get this resolved, that is certainly what I have...

That's a really good idea. Sometimes I would like to know for sure that elements would be where I want them to be. I try experiments with a tester piece that doesn't matter. That way if it doesn't work it's not a big deal. I wouldn't try it on a piece you've been working on. I might give this one a ...

My husband's company does a lot of glass wall panels. I know they work a lot with CR Laurence. They usually call them up and talk with someone about what they need then they get faxed specs on the material. I do know channel for 1/4" is difficult to find. They did find some for a project which ...

Maximizing Kiln Output - Fast Slumps??

I am trying to get a bunch of work done for my opening and should make it with the schedules I use, but it will be close. In my push in fusing, I have found that I can vent at 300 and open at 150 - even take out and cover with fiber blanket at that temp. I have a Skutt 1414. My slump cool downs are ...

UGH! I HATE my wireless network!

I am using NETGEAR for my wireless network in my shop. It is horrible. Besides being painfully slow, when my kiln is running the relay switching interferes with it and I can't use the internet! We have cable internet to the house and that works just fine. Anyone have a wireless internet that works? ...

It actually works very well. The tall piece can actually stand on it's own, it's just easy to knock it over. The base is made leaving a 1/2" indentation for the tower. The feet and tower are siliconed in. Then small pieces of fired frit are put over the silicone to cover it. The base on Seconda...

Thanks Rob, photos of your set up helps a lot. I am so visually oriented. Since I use a lot of translucent glass that white paper should come in handy. I don't use diffusers right now and your set up seems easy enough to try.

Thanks for sharing,

I was nervous about the heat also, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. I put fire retardant drywall on the wall areas around the kiln, just to be safe.

The reliefs are beautiful. That's not cast right? It's done like the kiln forming technique you taught us isn't it?

Phil got us Collodial Silica which I believe Doug Randall recommended. It worked well for us. I've used my shelves a lot and don't have a problem. A few pointers: After soaking, let dry outside for a few days. It really cuts down on the fumes when you fire and I think it may help it stay level. I di...

Koo Kooie! (That's our family word for very scary things :)

You did what I'm sure you wanted to do. Amazing work. You took away from the process and glass and made me focus totally on your subject! WOW, that's hard for me to do in glass since I love it so much!

Kudoos times 10!

Secondary Matters

It's base is 10" x 10". The tower is 34" high - 3/8" thick

So glad you like it. I really LOVE the tower idea and hope people like it so I can make lots!!
