Thanks all for responding. I took a look at SW's site -- which only exposed additional ignorance on my part :) I my primary use will be bowl edges. What grits are people using? Also, can someone enlighten me to the benefits of a plain vs grooved disk? Mucho gracias - Paul U thinking of diomond or l...

What is SW's website please. Mucho, mucho gracias! Susan http://swdiamond.freeyellow.com Be warned -- they use a fee internet host that pops up all kinds of ads and more. It will probably asky you if you want to install this thing or that thing. Answer NO every time. I can swear to it but I'd bet m...

Re: slumping help please!
Another newby question: I tried slumping into an 8" scalloped bowl mold and peeked at the end of the hold at 1250, then added 5 min. four times...so the total hold was 25 min. The result is a nice shallow, scalloped bowl, but it should have slumped deeper...another 1/2"+ or so. :?: Would ...

new work - the hand
Something new from the kiln. Though small (10" x 7") this piece is somewhat of a big deal for me -- this is the first piece I've done where the technique and style is something that I enjoy enough (both creating and looking at) to start building that ever elusive "cohesive body of wor...

Re: Help with slump, please!
If you haven't bought Brad's book (link above to the right) then I highly recommend it. It covers the items you are asking about -- with the benefit of lots of color picks. Glass for fusing is expensive. A good book (or basic class) will more than pay for itself in saved glass :) Brad, btw, is our h...

Thanks all. Karen (my much, much, much better half) put the italian phrase into google - and we got all kinds of astronomical stuff -- so its close enough :) For the curious -- here's the work that is inspiring the name... http://www.izm.com/misc/tabelle_della_stella_01_A.jpg http://www.izm.com/misc...

I am not a fluent speaker but I would translate it as starchart but I wonder what a real italian would say. Would it be tabelle delle stelle (which would be more fun to say)? Or do they have a whole 'nuther word. Do you mean it to relate to astrology or astronomy because there might be a difference...

parlate italiano
I'm trying to name a series of work. I like the sound of the following name -- and I think it translates appropriately -- but would appreciate it if someone who speaks Italian can tell me how they would translate this back to English:
tabelle della stella
thanks,
Paul

Brock, Paul...does the free download have a Mac version? E there doesn't need to be one, since mac's are immune to almost every one of the latest versions of malware. True -- but it has nothing to do with having better technology. A mac is less likely to be hit with a virus because mac's don't have...

borax on enamels
So I have new work that uses enamels (Thompson) on float. I've got very light devit in the non-enamel spots.
If I spray some borax will it have any negative effects on the enamel?
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks for editing the link for me. I can't seem to figure out the image thing, posting from webshots. Webpage has been down for months too. Gremlins in my machine Liam A number of the image hosting sites will not let you embed a photo in another web page -- that's why sometimes you need to just li...

Re: Bullseye sample set - how reliable is COE?
Anyone tried fusing bits of their Bullseye fusing sample set? The disclaimer says the samples are not tested for fusing (the colours representing the post-fuse colour of the real stuff) - but I'm tempted to use the thin bits and keep the thick ones for colour reference. Is it worth the risk? Peg An...
