stepping stone sealant, but not for a stepping stone
I bought a cool little patio table last year with a table surface made of grouted agate and other banded rock slices. Unfortunately, it didn't handle the winter weather too well, and the surface has dulled out considerably, and little flecks of rock have started to pop out. Can anyone recommend a se...

Hi I'm on a dial-up modem, and the photos didn't take longer than usual to download. I had the same horizontal-scrolling issue that others have mentioned. I'm not sure what my exact screen resolution is, but without scrolling I was only seeing about three fourths of the width of the page. Personally...

Yeah, that bugged me too, but I'm a cheapskate and didn't want to order extras, so I came up with this solution: I cut all of the striking colors in half lengthwise and fired one half of each one. (I made a numbered map of the layout on the kiln shelf so I wouldn't mix any of them up) Then I taped t...

I seem to have the most problems with dust making my contacts dry. (removing old kiln wash, etc.) My general rule is that if I'm doing something that would require a respirator, I wear safety glasses too. Also, when I'm soldering (jewelry or stained glass, but mostly jewelry) the flux fumes can caus...

Olympic color rods http://www.glasscolor.com has the kind that glassblowers use.
They have a page with COE charts by manufacturer. None of them are an exact 90 or 96, but I guess you could get the clear from them too.

Anyway, this may be off the subject, but it's got me wondering. Does size matter when one talks about excellent works? It seems to me it does. Many of the things I see posted here, in the books, and elsewhere are quite large. And furthermore, does the amount of coldworking equipment contibute to th...

Many people will like, (therefore assuming the superiority of, because . . . what they like must be good!) the butterfly bowl. A critic however, may find the butterfly passe, overdone, trite, uninspired, lacking in merit, etc,. etc. The critic could go into paroxysms of artspeak about the purity of...

That's a nice thought, and probably most people could come up with a reasonable assessment of what they liked, and why they liked it. But, if I wanted a realistic appraisal of a work of art, I would be far more interested in the opinion of Robert Hughes or, (insert your favourite critic here) than ...

I think that a lot of inexperienced fusers are afraid to post a critique because they only know what they like, not necessarily the right words for why they like it (the negative/positive space and imagry type words) I understand the reluctance of people who are fairly well established in the field...

My dear shelf scrapers, Put away your blunt instruments, for I bring you joyous news. Last year, while shopping for a house-painting project, I discovered sanding screen. Looks like a window screen, but it's firm and encrusted with grit. It's made for drywall and plaster, but it works amazingly well...

With second fuse per glass shop employee that I asked I started second firing at warm for about 10 minutes (350 degrees ) then medium ( 500-1000 degrees ) right at the beginning of this is when glass...
