Class by Leslie Rowe-Israelson and Melanie Rowe

There are a few of us that have the honor of taking this class. WOW, it's unbelieveable. The two of them are wonderful, full of life, energy, and what talent, it humbles all of us. The two of them are outstanding artists then we get to have them as teachers/ wonders in our lives. If you ever get the...

Hi Ian, It similar to talc or baby powder. Some have used it as a release instead of kilnwash on a mold. It is dry and the way a friend of mine said to use it was put it into the foot part of a nylon, tye it off and you can use it as a powder. I've tried it a few times where kilnwash has worn off so...

Nice job Jon. What size and kind of kiln, etc. At the demo in DC, Tony combed one and I combed the other at the same time (top loading kiln, double shelf) lots of fun. Thanks for sharing. Patty

Hi Lisa, I love both the wetbelt and the lapwheel. You can set up jigs to get your glass pretty flat on a wetbelt. One really nice thing about a 12" lapwheel is it doesn't take too much space and you can move it where the fullsize wetbelt usually stays where you plan on using it. I find the lap...

Stunning work Jackie! Your presentation, colors, detail, etc. is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your photos. I'm sure those were someone else's arms doing the hardware, lol. Patty

You can make it water tight if you use a sheet of glass on the surface which will become the inside of the piece. That isn't the way I normally did the process but I did at times for certain individuals. The ones that Corning bought were completely stringer. It's just a tad more than a tack fuse and...

Catharine is right on with the conference. The presentations offered information not only to the glass blower but to all glass artists in general. Many well known glass artists (glass blowing, casting, fusing, lamp working, etc.) were present and it was great to converse with so many of them. A coup...

Thank you Kay and Jim. The class was so much fun, great students and we covered a lot. I would have loved to have had the class be a 3 to 4 day class. Hope everyone picked up their finished pieces. I'm hoping to get the pictures all onto a cd today. I will be teaching at Snow Farm in MA next weekend...

Very nice job Jerry! Looks like the yellow did shift back to the normal yellow color at least the photo makes it look that way. How about photographing the back side too just to show what it looks like? Looking forward to what you come up with next. Patty

Hi Cliff, Are you fusing on kiln washed shelf, thinfire or fiberboard? Thinfire can cause a hazing at times which normally goes away during the slump firing. By chance have you been firing lusters in your kiln? Sometimes the lusters can collect on the elements causing contamination in other firings....

Well Tony, you may feel you are not as talented as some glass artists but you are developing, venturing into the unknown for you. The excitement of color, combining it with others is so exciting. I think that with your natural awareness and wanting to know how everything works will allow you to evol...

there are also two new mold mixtures for doing casting. One is Gerry Newcomb's and the other is Michael Dupille's. Both are outstanding. Both mold mixtures are available through NW Art Glass and I believe Clay Art Center. Both have wonderful smooth textures, etc. About drying your molds, there are s...

A few thoughts of mine: Not everyone that takes a fusing class will become addicted as many of us have become and some will remain a hobbiest, and some will never do glass again. I personally feel that if a person doesn't have the desire to pursue to become a "glass artist" and just loves ...
