Re: glass I'm working on
No Marty, I have enough family to keep me busy for now. They've been great patrons over the years though. Patient with my slow output. I'm hoping to step up the pace since I retired recently but life has a way of getting in the way.

Thank you for the compliments. Those blue on white border pieces are screen printed enamels on float glass, sandblasted on the back. Its the biggest single installation I've ever attempted. Got a long way to go. Fun though.

Re: plaster for casting
Hi I typically use Hydrocal and silica flour 1:1 for the first layer if hand building and then add an equal amount of silica sand to the silica flour or hydrocal. I find that this makes pretty strong molds that divest quiet easily. If I am making a larger mold and I worry about mold cracking, for h...

Dust Collector fittings
My dust collector has a 2 1/2" intake hole. My hose end is 2 1/4". Incredibly, this results in a leaky fit. My solutions have involved duct tape and foam core board and aren't satisfactory . It's time to step up my game. I'm not emotionally attached to the 2 1/4" hose. It may be repla...

clip - If I need a more serious temp gauge can you guys recommend one, and the sensor that best suits? (I'll probably build a kiln or two from scratch in the future so I don't mind getting one that is reasonably priced and of good quality) clip Isn't the best sensor for serious temperature measurem...

Re: Enamels or paints for leaded crystal glass?
This stuff is sold by Rio Grande http://www.rbcepoxy.com/index.cfm/page/Durenamel/pid/10257 I bet it would have some traits that were superior in durability to fired-on class coating systems. But it would probably have some traits that are less desirable too. An epoxy paint like this would last life...

Does the paint need to have transparency, or are you just applying black line work or opaque color?
