Flower former too high for kiln?

My kiln is 11" deep, with top and side heating elements. I have a 7" high flower former I would like to use. Allowing for kiln shelf and 1" posts, does this leave the glass too close to the heating element? This is probably an elementary question but have just purchased this kiln and ...
