shortwave uv light

Post by Ann Demko »

Are the lamps that people use for detecting repairs in antiques the same short wave uv lights needed for detecting the tin side? I thought I had read it in the archives but couldn't find it. Thanks Ann

The lamp you want is the shortwave uv lamp that outputs light in the 254 nm wave length. This lamp is available in a small fluorescent tube style. The lamps will be clear not violet. The violet colored lamps are long wave and sold mostly as "black lights", they won't work.

The clear lamps are also sold as germicidal lamps.
