Found this in the kiln.
400/1200/20
300/1430/25
Full/900/60
100/700/5
All Bullseye. Stiff Black base and rim.
I assume it broke on the way up as it is fully fused. Too fast?

Re: Broken Plate
Probably. Something like that I would go:
250 1100 60
200 1450 30 (or until done)
200 900 60
100 600 OFF
250 1100 60
200 1450 30 (or until done)
200 900 60
100 600 OFF

Re: Broken Plate
But it was going to be lovely!
A fine attempt, and I love the texture on the shell's plating. I hope you try it again...
warm regards,
Eric

Re: Broken Plate
As Brock said you went to fast, to bad it would of been a great piece.

Re: Broken Plate
Thanks to those that responded. I am lucky enough to have been invited to show my work
at a farmers market at the wealthiest community on the island (people like Michael Dell of Dell computers) and am hurrying to get some things ready. I bluffed my way in and now I need to walk the walk. Plus I have two magic performances between now and then and I MC our local Rubber Ducky Race on the 4th. PRESSURE!
I hope to have a set of four of these plates ready by next week. Two are done and number three was fused (slower and successfully ) last night. I have the same design done in 8" sushi plates too. Turtles are big over here.
Brock. Why do you recommend the slow 200 degree drop from 1430 to 900? I understand coming up slower ( I used 300 yesterday) but I have never dropped from the top temperature at your suggested rate. I have always gone AFAP.
Thanks again
Barry

Mainly because my kilns can't really cool any faster than that, in that temp range, and being a complete Luddite, I was afraid of confusing my controller. I know people program a faster drop . . . but do they get it?
