After being stuck in Customs for weeks, my Skutt Firebox 14 arrived, was hauled up 3 flights of stairs, and installed in my bathroom with the scariest-looking plug EVER.
My electric bill this month will be about a zillion shekels.
Another new kiln, yay!

You'll be surprised at how much energy the kiln doesn't use.

Depends on where you live and what your electric rates are like, though.AndyT wrote:You'll be surprised at how much energy the kiln doesn't use.
I used to preach to my husband that my (six) kilns weren't the reason our electric bills were so high—until I learned that, in combination with everything else in the house—we were always at penalty rates with the company. We converted to solar a few years ago and drastically reduced our bill.

Possibly, possibly not, but it's been running nearly 'round the clock since I got it. I've been saving up stuff for firing for a long time.AndyT wrote:You'll be surprised at how much energy the kiln doesn't use.

I'm in northern California, about an hour north of San Francisco. Electric bill went from average of $600/month to $100.
