does dichroic stand up in a pot melt?

Post by CMWarren »

I have alot of dichroic odds and ends that are small bits and peices left over from a decade of projects, and I was thinking of trying throwing some of it into a pot melt cast pyramid.

would the dichroic withstand the heat of around 1600 degrees?

I have been using blue and green aventuring powder and frit in my pyramid castings, and it has been interesting. I wanted to see if dichro would hold up to give other forms of sparkle.

it will stand up, but it will shred and get lost in a casting unless you're using a LOT of it. most likely you'll see a few shards of it in the interior. you could place the dichro pieces on the outside surfaces and you'd see a lot more of it, although it will move downwards as it melts.

This small pyramid has dichro, and the dichro looks great in it. Still nice and sparkly.

(hopefully this works. I always have trouble with images!)
