repairing kiln shelf

Post by ironman55 »

I have a Corelite shelf 1"X24X39 I heated up my kiln too fast (I think) it cracked full length completely. Can it be repaired with a high temp cement mortar or ???
Also, I cant find any company info on Corelite manufacturer. I would like to contact the company that actually makes them to ask their thoughts.

THanks for any help, Joe

I don't believe the shelves can easily be repaired, but these are the guys that make the Core-lite shelves: http://www.rescoproducts.com/

Try calling Kevin Frederes or Eric Nedreberg, Resco Products Inc, 888-283-5505, Kevin.Frederes@rescoproducts.com, eric.nedreberg@rescoproducts.com

If you can't repair it, then you can cut them into pattern bar molds.

OR

cut them for damming

You will be hard pressed to make a good repair. You can cast a new shelf using a Castable 3000 cement. It is good option for making fixtures if you don't mind a rougher surface. A good reminder to bake out moisture slowly after having your kiln in hibernation for a while.
