Medium kiln vs Extra-large kiln

Post by JenniteveW »

I have a medium sized kiln and have contour fused many things in it successfully. Recently, a friend with an extra-large kiln contour fused some items using the exact same schedule that I have had much success with in my medium kiln. The items came out of her kiln with a tack fuse and a few were not even completely fire polished. Does this make sense? She was using the identical schedule. I know that kilns are different (we both have the same brand kiln, just different sizes) but in using the same schedule and to not even get a complete fire polish, mush less a contour fuse...?? Will we need different firing schedules for different sized kilns? Thanks for any assistance or info! I am perplexed!

You should check if both controllers are using the same temperture scale *C or *F, then check controller to see if it is working & going thru a complete schedule, if it is testing is in order.
