slump after sandblast?

Post by Bonnie Rubinstein »

Hi All, I may have made a mistake, I applied all the resist areas to glass that I will sandblast, but it slipped my mind (how?) that I planned to slump them. Can I blast and then slump (easy slump into platter mold), or do I risk diminishing the blasted texture? The slump will be at about 1250. thanks.

At 1250F most of the sandblasted surface will start to shine.

If you can, go to around 1125 and hold for an hour. That works for most shallow molds and will leave you a very nice matte surface. (My favorite finish, by the way.)

so, if I want it to be stronger texture than a matte finish, this will not work?
