rough surface on plate

After 25 years of fusing with window glass, I have been talked into using Bullseye glass. It is fun, I've always liked color but my first larger piece has an issue that I didn't expect. I used glass that I knew would react with each other and it turned out great but the stems on the flowers are rough and crusty feeling when I touch it. I have the ability to wet sand it and go through all the grits to polish before I slump it but is that what people who know this glass do when this happens? Seems like capping it with clear would make it really thick since it is only a 10 in x 10 inch square. Thanks.

What glass? What firing schedule? Got a photo?

I was able to fix it just by using a kitchen scrubby. It had a little crusty area on the stringers that reacted to the surface glass.
