Kiln Shelf

Post by mdstained »

Have a special project coming up where I need a very large kiln shelf, 60" x 30".

Frustrating thing when I had my own shop from 2000 - 2019 I had this exact corrugated shelf, but for the life of me cannot remember where I bought it.
Any suggestions?

I don't believe anyone makes an extruded ceramic/clay shelf that large anymore. Used to get them from Dyson, but they're no longer around. The biggest cordierite shelf I'm aware of is around 25" square.

The best alternative is probably a fiber shelf, which is available in sizes that large. Won't be cheap.

Are you close to a kiln manufacturer -- I know that Olympic has them and probably other kiln folks as well.
