The relief in the plates was interesting. The more successful ones for me were the ones where the overall pattern was interesting enough to keep me looking and discovering the animal shapes. I like the play of positive and negative shapes, kind of like Escher in the feel and the adherance to the grid as his design statement...but the most interesting work I saw wasn't these dishes, but the sculptural pieces.
There is a relief piece of a dress. It's several panels that have a negative relief image of a dress that is fabulous and the other more traditional, contemporary sculptural pieces are really terrific.
