Band Saws

Post by joe_johnson_usa »

I have a question regarding band saws. Is it necessary to buy a band saw that is specifically made for working on glass (speed?) or can I just get a woodworking band saw and buy a blade that can be used on glass ?

The main problem is that you need to be able to have a water feed to spray water on the glass at the point of contact to cool and lubricate the blade, and the saw needs to be able to handle the wet environment and channel the water back to a reservoir or a drain as well as keeping the operator safe from electrocution. Most woodworking bandsaws aren't up to this task.
