Heat polishing
Can anyone tell me the temperature and time it's wise to hold to get a piece polished when it's marked by a mold?

Hi Karen,
If the marks are from the piece slumping onto the mold (on the underside or back of the piece) then you cannot remove the marks by fire polishing the piece. Fire polishing normally occurs at about 1325F for Bullseye glass. This is above the slumping temperature of the glass (~1150F). You will not be able to firepolish the glass without it losing its shape.
The best way to minimize marks from the mold during slumping is to slump slowly at the lowest temperature possible. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Bob
