Snowflake Ornament - stupid question #3

You all have been great - thanks so much for sharing. Okay, we're to the firing stage now (keep in mind I've never done this before). Now I know beads have to anneal so, my question is, the instructions say because the snowflake ornaments are small I can fire quickly to a temp of 1550, but says nothing about what happens after that - do I just shut it down and let cool to room temperature? I have a small kiln with digital controller.

Never fear guys, after this first piece I'll be off and running, but every time I work on something new to me I make some really dumb mistake and everyone goes, "well, didn't you know that....." - obviously not!

Also, I'm using thinfire shelf paper - is there a right/wrong side? I'll bet your toes just crinkle up in your shoes every time a newbie joins and asks all the same questions.

Thanks again for your patience.

What kind of glass are you firing?

1550 sounds too high for Spectrum or BE.

Hi Judy - thanks for responding. I'm using Uroboros noodles. Most all seem to agree that the pattern instructions for firing temp is a little high (GPQ Fall edition project), but I'm not sure what "a little high" means. I've searched for a site with technical discussion of the noodles, but have found nothing.

So, any help would be much appreciated, this is my first fusing project.

Thanks.

If you're using BE I'd check out their website.

I use lots of noodles and stringers with Spectrum 96 and I only fire to about 1400. I prefer "relief" firings and not a fully fused project.

Hope this helps. Maybe someone who's done the noodle ornaments will give you some input.
