I know halogen is probably too hot. Im looking for a type of bulb, and maby a rule of thumb on the distance between glass and bulb.
Thanks for the input. :D

My rule of thumb for distance is 1. Does it look good, meaning is there a visual "hot spot" that detracts from the design. I like as even illumination as possible. The closer the bulb to the glass, the less evenly the glass is lit. 2. After the bulb has been lit for an hour, I have to be able to put my finger on the glass nearest the bulb, and hold it there for as long as I want. If I can't do that, it's too close. There are so many illumination possibilities that it would be hard to give you any useful advice. I would visit a hardware or electrical store with a good bulb selection and just look over what they have, and I would get the Miller catalog. Their toll free is 800-445-6611. They are very helpful and offer great service.
