Hi, all.. We all talk about fiber & fiberboard all the time. How generic of us. "So," she quipped, "what's your fave fiber & fave fiberboard?" And, hey,
pour quoi, as well?

Pollingly yours,
Barbara

Heh. It depends on why I'm using it and what I hope to achieve by using it.

I like ThinFire for smooth bottoms on pieces but don't use it very often since most of the time kilnwash is fine. I like 550-J for kiln carving, texturing, etc.

Before I got my BE kiln shelves and was constantly blowing bubbles, I used 550-J for every fuse firing. I like it because it last for quite a few firings if i didn't move it and it prevented those nasty bubbles.

I like 550-J that's been burned out in my kiln for lining crucibles when casting silver, but that's another subject entirely.

I use Unifrax products 970 papers, HD and LD boards, and 2300º 8 lb blanket (I think). I recently found a source for Thermal Ceramics board at quite a better price than the Unifrax. It seems fine.

So far, I've used the HF21 fiber blanket. This fiber blanket has been just fine for my applications: kiln carving, build-up mold making & glass edge treatments.

I'm just getting ready to order ceramic paper and 2" fiber board. I'll post my application results after I've had a chance to work with these products for awhile.

This company ship-out is prompt and their pricing structure also suits me just fine. :D
