Pattern bars and breakage

Happy new year to All

My first attempt at fusing some pattern bar pieces into a flat piece ended up cracking around the edge. I made the pattern bar from glass blower scrap (which I was told was COE 96). Cut the pattern bar on a tile saw then arranged the pieces on a white 96 with some clear 96 between the bars for fill.

When I took it out of the kiln today I noticed a few cracks around the edge going towards the pattern bar pieces and was able to easily break it apart with my hand.

Any suggestions as to what might have went wrong?

Thanks in advance from the newbe in Northern Michigan

Your glass is incompatible. Those glass blowers start with a given COE glass but by the time you get it, it's no longer that COE.

Either test the stuff first or use a known fusing system like BE or Spectrum.

That crumbling thing is awesome.

Thanks Marty

I figured it was an incompatability problem.
