I'm interested in finding a class for using off the shelf hanging hardware as well as engineering and installing fastening and hanging systems for like, free standing panels, screens, dividers, wall panels, etc. Anybody know of such a class?

you might make a friend at a gallery or museum -- those people who install shows know all kinds of tricks. there are a lot of vendors of this stuff, many discussed here in the past (see archives), but also google Museum Mounts, which is a business name, plus Outwater Plastics, and Light Impressions. one of my friends worked for years installing museum exhibitions, and he gave me those names. some of the hardware is industrial strength, too -- intended to support weighty pieces.

These folks provide hardware for installing glass walls (stationary and moving):

These folks have some sign/shelf hardware that is probably adaptable for some projects:

You might look at John Reyntiens' class at Pilchuck this summer. His work is based in leaded techniques, but he has also branched into many more contemporary forms. I wouldn't be surprised if you could contact him directly and ask how much he will be covering. He's a very easy going person. Take a look at the photos on Pilchuck's site.

I like these guys for aircraft cable hanging systems. Not cheap, but very flexible and easy to use.

Hi David, How are you?!!
I saw that Michael Dupille is teaching a class for exactly that at the next HGH in Corning. You might contact him. I just got back from Steve Klein's class at Corning. What a great experience!

Call CRL and ask for tech help in hanging hardware. Look at standoffs and cable systems.

Hey Els, everyone is good here just plugging along with the shows as usual. Thanks I'll check that out. Were you in Corning during the recent cold spell? Yikes! Bert I was hoping you'd chime in. Really I was hoping you might teach a class in architectural installations in say July, in Seattle or Portland (?). I do use my CRL catalog as bedtime reading every once in a while. But what I really want is a class. Because, I want someone who has been there to say, 'yes David, if you use this hardware in this way for this size piece, you won't have to lay awake worrying about your clients family dog being guillotined by your fabulous art-turned lethal weapon.' Or at least, 'David, here is where to get really good liability insurance for this kind of work'

David, when you find that person/information... do share... you are not the only one with thoughts such as this!!
