I'm wondering if anyone could suggest an adhesive for gluing a cut pattern to a base piece for firing n flipping. It's all iridized opaque black so clarity is not my main concern. I'm thinking about super glue or hot glue but would like to hear about other ideas.

It was after reading this blog post looking for something else that I posted the question here. I guess I didn't read the date to see how new it was. I'm excited to try the tape, but am wondering if there is much fuming or smoke from a good sized plate with a good amount of small pieces to tape down also is there any reaction to the iridized coating like with thinfire.

Similar works I have done using 3M contact glue spray. The volume of combusting material is so small that emiited smoke or gassing is mot noticeabe in 1sqft piece.

The spray glue gives the glass some 'tooth' that makes frit painting easier.

Lauri, 3M make several spray adhesives. Which ones did you try? Pete

Don't know what Lauri uses but I've also used quilt basting spray, usually available in fabric and craft stores. It's meant to allow quilters to play around with pieces of fabric until they have the right pattern (or something--not being a quilter I'm not sure).

I like it because it stays sticky and lets you reposition or restick things for awhile. It's good for fritwork, but if there's enough contact area it will also hold sheet glass together long enough to get it upside down on the kilnshelf.
