AAACH! My kiln's not working!!!

Hello, Glassies,
I have a Skutt GM 1414 which I bought used from a friend. I moved it into her basement when she bought it (about 7 years ago) and I moved it into my basement in March. I fired it dozens of times with no problem, BUT now it's not working. It doesn't heat up, and I discovered that this is because the elements in the lid are not firing. Is it the relays or the elements????? (please say relays...)

I'm on hold with Skutt right now, but I thought I'd also look to you smart folks for answers, too.
Thanks,
Kristy

Talk with Perry over there and he'll probably give you everything you need.

What error is the readout giving you?

Make sure it's not the circuit breaker by throwing it off, ten back on.

After you check the breaker, The next step is to look closely at the element, the connections, the plug, and the relays for any strange coloring. Chances are you can see where the problem is. A volt ohm amp meter would be very helpful in discovering where the power is disconnected. Somewhere there is an open gap in the circuit. When you close the gap, power will flow to the elements. My guess is that the most likely culprit is the relay. The element could be broken. If you find a break in a coiled element, you can overlap a few turns and get it to work while you order a new element.
