I am new with Kiln. it is a DUNCAN with a 3 position heat switch
HI-FIRE, CERAMIC and OVERGLAZE. I have been slumpimg wine bottles by using the CERAMIC position. it works good. I have tried liquor bottles like GREY GOOSE with thick glass and they all break. After reading forums, I understand that soaking and annealing is needed. How can i soak and anneal with my kiln ?

I've read on this board that some people can anneal without a controller.
My first kiln had, I think they are called infinite switches. One controlled the top element and one controlled the sides. Both switches had notches from "1" to "10."

I tried and tried to hold a certain temperature for the purpose of annealing and was never able to accomplish it.

I can tell you from experience that you will have to program an annealing cycle for Grey Goose and you must fire them very slowly. That goes for any heavy bottle or anything that is multiple layers of glass.
