Another new kiln, yay!

After being stuck in Customs for weeks, my Skutt Firebox 14 arrived, was hauled up 3 flights of stairs, and installed in my bathroom with the scariest-looking plug EVER. Image

My electric bill this month will be about a zillion shekels.

You'll be surprised at how much energy the kiln doesn't use.

Depends on where you live and what your electric rates are like, though.

I used to preach to my husband that my (six) kilns weren't the reason our electric bills were so high—until I learned that, in combination with everything else in the house—we were always at penalty rates with the company. We converted to solar a few years ago and drastically reduced our bill.

Possibly, possibly not, but it's been running nearly 'round the clock since I got it. I've been saving up stuff for firing for a long time.

I'm in northern California, about an hour north of San Francisco. Electric bill went from average of $600/month to $100.
