oh boy...I feel in over my head on this one. I have a commission to make garden art. It would be a design into/onto? an old picture frame, to be hung outside. in the garden. I have an old window frame that has 2 panes of glass approx 20" x 22 1/2'. The biggest my kiln goes is 8 1/2" sq. There is no glass store anywhere near here. The way I see this getting done is fusing elements of the design as much as possible, then gluing onto either the original glass pane in the window now, or cleaning that out, cutting another one and gluing onto that. I am so out of my comfort zone on this one, I'm not even sure what questions to ask. But I guess the place to begin with is the pane of glass that is in there now. Do I take it all out and start with new glass, or do I glue my pieces onto it? :-k

You could also build wooden partitions, like mullions around window panes, into the window. If you make them all 8 inches (or whatever fits into the space), you simply make pieces and install them. If you visit the This Old House website or similar, you can see how they do mullions and get some ideas.

you also need to think about how you are going to treat the old frame so that it will not rot outdoors. r.

I can see that it's probably much easier to work around what my kiln can do than work around a frame that's bigger than my kiln.....AND I won't have to wait for the glue to ship. Thanks guys! :)
