M-97 versus Slide 1800

Hi All,
I am making now using M-97 for some molds. I have seen something called Slide Hi-Temp 1800. Can I use that on the same molds that I have been using M-97?

You can use either. Most people say the M-97 is a little better quality. It's also more expensive.

Hi Brad. Im surprised to hear you had no trouble with the slide 1800. How high did you fire it? I broke several expensive color de verge molds by trying it instead of mr-97. Just curious

I only use the Slide on stainless molds, not on Colour de Verre molds. For those I use Primo Primer, which is what they used to recommend. Primo is less expensive than any of the boron nitride sprays.

My personal experience is that every time I have used Slide on a stainless floral former, the inside of the glass has had milky/hazy spots where the glass touched the Slide. The one time I used it on a stainless drop mold, the glass stuck.
So... I think it sucks
. I will pay extra for the MR-97.

mR97 is not more expensive when you know where to buy it!!

I seem to go through an awful lot of it and would love a cheaper source.

It is still more expensive than Slide but I would not use Slide on my Colour de Verre molds. They do recommend MR-97 and if you shop around you can find some pretty good prices. Laurie requires a minimum purchase on her site to get the lower price. I do use Slide on my stainless steel molds with no problems.

I can vouch for how easy it is to spend on her site; her stainless shapes are the best, and if you've never used the bottomless molds, you're in for a treat.

Anywhere you buy, except a retail store, will have a minimum order.
I get my glass from D&L. Their price for MR-97 is only a few dollars more than Laurie's, but there's a $75 minimum order. So... if all you need are MR-97 and molds, I would talk with Ms. Spray
