ROCIPROLAP

I have this wonderful tool at home, it could have helped me a lot, now,
But
I can't use it. [please read my other post for more details]

I need to grind certain areas in a piece which can get into the machine, but is quite big , and heavy. It is square.
The piece 'bangs' into the walls of the roc-lap, and I am afraid it will eventually break like this.
Do you think, / know of any technique or method , that might pad the walls of the rociprolap and prevent this kind of banging?
Or
Do you know of any really strong protective padding that I can put on the glass piece, and it will stay there and soften the 'hitting' of the glass against the wall?

It will save me so much agony, and time....
Many thanks in advance..

Havi
The area which needs to be grinded is the higher area in the middle of the piece

Wrap foam or rubber around the sides of the piece, secure with duck tape.
A length of garden hose around the inside perimeter of the lap will help too.

Thanks, Marty [Shana Tova!]

The thing is, that the glass gets under the garden hose.... the glass is 1.2 cm thin, - 1/2" or so.

And I was thinking of wrapping the inside of a bicyle wheel, but I am afraid it will not be soft enough to soften the banging...

Other ideas?

Thanks, anyway

a piece of 5mm or so neoprene cut to be the height of the sides and long enough to fit inside the ring?

you can get this at good fabric stores perhaps, as they make clothes out of it, or wetsuits. my car seat covers are neoprene, so perhaps a shop that repairs car interiors would have some.

Thanks, Charlie

What's neoprene? Never heard about it.....
Perhaps it has a different name here.
However your idea of 'cushioning' the inside of the rociprolap appeals to me,

Thanks again.

Havi

ps Just found it on google! thanks again!

Neoprene is what they make wetsuits for scuba diving from.

Do you have pool noodles? Usually, here in the States, you can get these large floating pool "noodles" cheap at discount or drug stores. You could also try that material.

Good luck and La Shana Tova!

Thanks, Rachel, Shana Tova to you too

Yes, we have pool noodles here....Even got one at home
Thanks for the idea.
yet again, the glass might slip under it, directly to its very heavy metal wall.

Thanks again,

Havi
