Design Help With Patten Bars

HI,
I am sure this is very basic, but I am seeking suggestions how to use the pattern bars I made and the best technique to get the best result.
As you will see from the images below, the pattern bar was madden a triangular stainless steel mold. The pattern is not completely consistent.
Additionally, some of the slices are thicker than others.

1. What would you advise I do to make the inside are look better for where the thicker pieces come together in the center?

2. Can I mix in thinner slices or will that throw everything off?
3. Should I either put the pieces on a base layer of glass or cap with clear? My concern is bubble if I cap with clear.
4. If I were to try to put a border around the pattern pieces and all levels were not exactly equal would that really mess up the ability to have straight lines?

I have been searching for some of these answers both online and inbox and haven't really found much on design vs. making pattern bars.

Thank you for your help.
Marcy

Hi Marcy
I haven't tried the triangle but your results are intriguing.
My experience with pattern bars is this. The slices are not going to be even, the pattern is not going to be exactly even but it doesn't really matter
unless you are a perfectionist (which i am not) It's going to be beautiful...
I have used borders with success. I would not use a cap or a base with clear initially. I would just fuse it with a border or not.
Then you can always add cap or base later if you don't like it.
Good Luck (hope I helped a little)
Jill

Thank you Jill. I used a steel triangular mold to get the shape.
What would you do about the center area?

Cut the points and put something in the middle or leave the points and fill with frit or just fire it and let everything melt together.

I agree with Marty just let it melt together.
When I have put patten bars together I think thats the wow factor!
Don't mess with it to much.

Ok everyone. Thanks for the ideas. I might try cutting the points. I have never done that.

I stick with rectangles simply because they lend themselves easier to designs.
Just my humble opinion.

Align the triangles so the edges are even then fill the middle with frit to match or accentuate one of the colors in the
