Kiln residue
I've been happy with a kiln my husband made many years ago, but it is now raining residue on my glass. It has fiber blanket on the sides and top. I have to sand blast everything to get a smooth surface now. It has been cleaned with a vacuum. Is there anything that can be done to fix the problem, or is it time for a new kiln? One of my friends has a ceramic brick kiln with the same problem, and has to put a propped up kiln shelf over her piece, to keep it from getting dirty. Seems like there must be a better answer.
Re: Kiln residue
If it's a home-made kiln you can probably simply change the lid liner to a sheet of Ceramaguard. See Kevin's post two posts down. (for some reason the link won't paste). If you want to see a lid rebuild using Ceramaguard I'll find a post I made a couple of years ago. Hope that helps. Jen
