I would like to fire low-fire clay in my glass kiln. I have a 120 volt manual Paragon 88 glass kiln that is just a few inches too short for what I want to do. I recently bought a Paragon 88 ceramic kiln that is deep enough, but I don't have the correct wiring yet to use it (it has a huge electric plug and will require the services of an electrician).

My questions are: 1) Can I "Frankenstein" the two kilns to create one kiln by taking a section of the ceramic kiln that has a side heating coil and adding it to the bottom of the glass kiln? 2) If that is possible, can I add the new coil to the 120 volt power box on the glass kiln? Is 120 volts enough power for two heating coils?

call a real electrician not a friend, and wire the new kiln up properly and safely.

To amplify what Kevin said, 120v won't be enough power for both sets of elements and the requirement to reach low fire clay temperatures. Good idea to get an electrician and wire the ceramic kiln properly for 240v operation.
