To what extent do low spots in kiln shelves contribute to the development of fused glass bubbles? I am checking a flat-ground shelf with a steel ruler and wondered what you thought.

Thanks,

there are however, no guarantees that a flat shelf will over time remain flat......
A lot depends of how it is used and or abused by that use.
Large thermal masses in one location or support of lack of support can possibly cause changes.

Nobody will knowingly sell as new, warped kiln shelves so to get the bubble forming dips people complain about takes firing time in a kiln.
