Do I need to adjust my firing schedule when stacking shelves

I am loading my Paragon GL24 kiln (front load, top and side elements) with many (16) smallish open face pate de verre pieces. I am thinking of adding an additional shelf with a few more pieces. I'll check on how it all looks when at the process temp, but just wondering if I should adjust the schedule ahead of time. In general, does adding another shelf affect firing schedules?

oh yes. especially with top elements. side fire pottery kilns are fairly easy to manage with multi shelves but with a top element in play i would say no if you need the same amount of heat work on both shelves. rosanna

I stack in my GL24. Just turn the top elements off and slow way down so that the heat reaches everything evenly. I've found that it works best with at least 6 inches between shelves. Tim
