Keeping the drains clear

Hello all,

I'm currently revamping my glass studio and need to install some sort of trap on my drain to prevent glass powder from clogging my sewer line. What contraption and/or device and/or brand do you all use? Is it an easy DIY? Thanks in advance!

A restaurant grease trap or two of them may be simplest.

This is about as simple as it gets...

I think Cynthia Morgan posted about it ages ago.

You can also do a Google search "artist sink trap"and a bunch of DIY stuff comes up for pottery studios, which look pretty simple, cheap and straight forward.

Agreed. The Gleco Trap is the way to go.

Thanks everyone! The Gleco trap looks like it will do the trick.

Yup, the Gleco works beautifully and it's relatively easy to buy and install. The only difficulty I've found is making sure there's sufficient space for it under the sink. Also, you've got to be sure to check it as often as the manufacturer recommends--when it fills up, it's useless, but you (or at least me) will continue using it as if it's working...

I've got a Gleco and it is easy to install. After cleaning it out the first time, I realized how much good it really does. The swarf packs like concrete. It can really do a number on your plumbing.

There are four different sizes. You can measure the distance from the trap to the floor to find the right one for your sink.

I ordered the Gleco for my studio redo. I learned from the sediment in my Revolution saw tray just how rock-like that swarf can get and didn't want to repeat the experience in my new sewer line!
