Glass turning silvery grey

So...what causes glass to turn silver grey? I have been having this happen with white and yellow glass lately, at all sorts of firing temps. It almost has a fumed look. Firings have included all sorts of other colors.

Is it irid glass? What are you firing with it?

just standard BE white. Not sure what you mean by what I'm firing it with. On kilnwash, mixed color loads. Nothing that I know of that should fume.

Does the silver grey look metallic?

Have you fired anything else in the kiln or on the shelf you are using other than BE glass? Like, clay, metal, or other types of glass?

That kind of glass won't turn silvery grey without some sort of contamination in the kiln. Have you fired anything unusual in the firings prior to having the trouble? Fired anything other than just glass? Changed the kiln wash/shelf paper/kiln shelf/whatever? Used enamels/paints/inclusions/metals/whatever?

If you can, try a piece of the same glass in another kiln to see if the problem happens again. (Preferably someone else's kiln in another location.)

I am wondering the same thing, did you fire silver or metal clay in the kiln.
